Megalithic tomb in Doogort West

Megalithic tomb

What is recorded here

Doogort West holds an unclassified megolithic tomb, meaning even the survey leaves its exact shape and purpose in shadow. That gap is not a failure, but an invitation: the stones may have marked burial, birth, boundary or memory. In western Mayo, where the land keeps its own counsel, such ambiguity fits. The tomb does not need a label to be old, serious, or alive in the minds of those who pass it.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI) is in the process of providing information on all monuments on The Historic Environment Viewer (HEV).
