What is recorded here

Killour holds a seven-metre Neolithic tomb where southern stones have collapsed inward, creating the illusion that the chamber is paused mid-thought rather than finished. This is not a isolated ruin but one voice in a prehistoric conversation, since a henge and cairn still mark the land to the north-east. The north end preserves a standing slab and two uprights that may have formed a separate entrance or ritual space, suggesting the dead were not simply buried but arranged within a deliberate landscape. To walk the pasture is to meet a region that kept returning to the same ground across generations, shaping stone and memory together long before written history arrived.
Megalithic Tomb is recorded as a archaeological place in County Mayo. Its open map record supplies this location and any linked names or public references.
