What is recorded here
Megalithic structure (present location) in Dublin North City stands in the Zoological Gardens after moving from a Chapelizod sandpit. It crossed from Phoenix Park into a public garden, carrying a dead person and every memory that person touched. Stones do not fade simply because they change address. They keep pointing back to the hand that first held them.
The present megalithic structure which stands in the Zoological Gardens was originally uncovered in a sandpit close to Chapelizod not far from Knockmary in the Phoenix Park. A human skeleton was found within the tomb (Borlase 1897, 381, 2, Poe 1904, 5-6).
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
