What is recorded here

On a coastal promontory, on a fairway on the Old Head of Kinsale Golf Course. According to local information there were once stones here called 'Leaba Diarmuid' which translates as Diarmuid's bed. A number of stones, which appear to be leaning and prostrate, are shown on an aerial photograph (Dr D.D.C. Pochin Mould, 16.03.1981), and may have been part of a megalithic structure. There is no visible trace of this possible structure at ground level. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009 This monument is subject to a preservation order made under the National Monuments Acts 1930 to 2014 (PO no. 9/1978).

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
