MEDIEVAL PARISH CHURCH & GRAVEYARD: ST. JOHNSTOWN, SINGINGTONE, RATHSYNE or COULFADE in Glebe

MEDIEVAL PARISH CHURCH & GRAVEYARD: ST. JOHNSTOWN, SINGINGTONE, RATHSYNE or COULFADE

What is recorded here

Four names still argue over one buried church in County Derry, but the ground remembers the shape beneath all of them. St. Johnstown, Singingtone, Rathsyne and Coulfade may have been local nicknames for the same medieval parish, each preserving a different memory of its walls, lane or lord. The graveyard likely held ordinary people whose names vanished while their prayers remained folded into the soil.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as MEDIEVAL PARISH CHURCH & GRAVEYARD: ST. JOHNSTOWN, SINGINGTONE, RATHSYNE or COULFADE. Recorded period: MED/L.MED. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
Medieval parish church and graveyard, dating to the Medieval and Late Medieval periods. Its significance lies in its role as a religious and community centre, reflecting the ecclesiastical landscape of rural Northern Ireland.
