What is recorded here
There is a lost church and cross in Gorticloghan, though no one is certain where they stood or when they fell. The official point sits at the centre of a remembered site rather than a marked stone, forcing imagination to complete what measurement stopped short of. Perhaps worship continued there long after the building disappeared, carried in prayer instead of wood.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CHURCH SITE & CROSS (O.S. memoir site, unlocated). Recorded period: UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
