Tony Miller reported the Mass-rock in Beach in February 2012, describing a two-tier altar built against a north-facing rock face and crowded with votive offerings. It stands three metres from a holy well, suggesting people still bring gifts to the stone rather than leaving it empty. The altar may have served prayer, memory or survival under restriction, yet its exact purpose remains unclear.

This was reported by archaeologist Tony Miller in Feb. 2012. He described it as 'a man made altar set against a vertical, north facing rock face. It comprises a two-tier altar supported by dry stone walling. It is adorned by many statues and votive offerings. The Holy Well (CO118-020----) is only c. 3 meters from its western end.
