Arthur McClean completed the Market House in 1813, giving Cavan a classical stage for commerce and gossip. Its rooms likely echoed with haggling merchants, nervous officials and proud citizens who believed the building would outlast them. The house still stands as a memorial to that confidence, preserving the moment when a small town decided it deserved grandeur.
