Marian Ffrith rises to approximately 260 metres and is part of the low-lying upland area of the Clwydian Range, which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The geology of the area consists mainly of Carboniferous limestone and sandstone, and the region has historical significance as a defended hilltop settlement location in the medieval period.
