Mànais is a sea cliff or coastal rock feature located in the Western Isles (Na h-Eileanan Siar), composed primarily of Lewisian gneiss, some of the oldest rocks in the British Isles, dating back over 2.7 billion years. These metamorphic rocks formed through high-pressure and high-temperature deformation of ancient igneous and sedimentary rocks, and the area is notable for its geological significance and contribution to understanding early Earth crustal development.
