Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

No visible surface trace remains of the man-made underground passage inside the West Cork ringfort, yet the hidden chamber still waits beneath the grass. People may have breathed in that dark space during storms, hidden valuables there, or simply marveled at the effort required to cut stone beneath a fortified home. The absence of a visible entrance does not erase the passage; it merely redirects imagination downward.
In ringfort (CO135-063001-). No visible surface trace. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
