Man-made underground passage in Teernaboul

A small hole 0.48m in diameter had opened up on the eastern of enclosure (KE067-013----). The hole was 1.18m deep and dropped down into a low, narrow dry stone built passage which runs in a north-south direction. The upper 0.6m of the depth of the opening comprises topsoil and gravel overburden which rests on the Man-made underground passage. Entry was not possible as the opening into the stone built passage was only 0.35m by 0.45m. Intact lintels are just visible on the north and south sides of the opening while the stone built passage was only 0.44 high based on visual inspection and approximately 0.58m wide at base.
