Shanvally is a man-made underground passage hidden beneath a levelled rath in County Mayo. Local tradition holds the tunnel still exists, though only a shallow hollow and a large stone remain visible on the surface. The passage may have served as a refuge, a boundary marker or a forgotten ritual route. Whatever it was, the land still keeps its shape half buried and waiting to be remembered.

In a rath ((MA071-176----). According to local tradition, there is a Man-made underground passage in the rath. The rath has been levelled but its outline can still be partly discerned. In the S half of the interior, there is a shallow surface hollow or subsidence, partly filled with a large stone. This may indicate the Man-made underground passage.
