Man-made underground passage in Oughtihery

On NE-facing slope. Investigated in 1970 by D.C. Twohig (1971, 77-8). Discovered in 1960 during ploughing by Department of Forestry resulting in displacement of two lintels and partial collapse of walling. Twohig (ibid.) described single stone-built wedge-shaped chamber (L 3.15m; max. Wth 1.26m; H 1.5m); roof lintels supported on corbels. At S end, opening at floor level to low passage (L 1m); inaccessible; investigator suggests creephole to second chamber or original entrance.
