No amount of rain soaks the earth above Liskillea because a hidden passage carries water away. That refusal to wet is the only proof the tunnel still exists.
In ringfort (CO085-08501-). According to Casey (1983, 130) 'dry patch, even in very inclement weather' suggests existence of Man-made underground passage. No visible surface trace. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994).
