What is recorded here

Lackendarragh is named for a man-made underground passage hidden inside An Cathairin, though no one knows the exact spot today. The name itself preserves the shape of the loss: a hollow place, a dug place, a place made under the ground rather than grown from it. What is missing is the visibility, not the fact that people were there.

Bowman (1934, 548) noted local tradition of Man-made underground passage in fort called 'An Cathairin' (possibly CO041-042---). Exact location not known.
