Knockagarrane East holds a seven-by-four-foot underground chamber beneath its ringfort, reached through a narrow two-by-one-foot hole in the south-west corner. Bowman recorded the space in 1934 after lining stones disappeared, leaving no visible surface trace. The chamber may have stored grain, hidden people during storms, or simply tested the courage of anyone willing to crawl into darkness beneath ancient walls.

In ringfort (CO030-11501). Bowman (1934, 294) recorded a hole 'c. 2ft by 1ft' in SW corner of fort which gave access to Man-made underground passage '7ft by 4ft' from which 'lining stones' had been removed.
