Man-made underground passage in Kiltamagh

Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

Kiltamagh holds a buried chamber beneath its rath, waiting for someone brave enough to lift the brambles and lift the lintel. The earth may keep a room for ghosts, gifts or forgotten people, but it has already chosen secrecy. What is missing is not the chamber, but the witness willing to enter without fear.
Located within rath (MA080-032----). Adjacent to the bank in the S of the rath interior, a slab is visible in a slight surface hollow. This may be a roof lintel of a Man-made underground passage. Difficult to examine; obscured by a clump of brambles and field clearance boulders. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 2 December 2021
