Kilberrihert holds two hidden passages inside its rampart, one an 18-foot circular chamber reached through a six-foot opening in the fosse. Bowman called the first plainly man-made in 1934, yet no surface trace remains for someone to point at today. The chamber may have been a lime kiln, borrowing the fort’s strength for fire and heat rather than dwelling.

In ringfort (CO015-02101-). Bowman (1934, 630) noted that 'on the north-west, the rampart curves inwards, forming a circular enclosure, the diameter of which is 18 feet, the depth is about 6 feet. The opening to this enclosure is from the fosse, and is about 6 feet wide. This was evidently a Man-made underground passage'. No visible surface trace. Possibly refers to lime kiln which is shown on 1842 OS 6-inch map in NE [sic] bank of ringfort. Second Man-made underground passage (CO015-02103-) also in fort.
