Man-made underground passage in Kerries West

Situated on gently sloping grassland overlooking Tralee Bay to the S and W. Discovered in October 2013 it consists of a chamber (3.2m L; c. 1.3m L) and passage (0.7m W; 0.7m H). The chamber, orientated E-W, was spanned originally by four large limestone lintels, two of which had cracked and fallen into the interior. It was substantially filled with earth that had fallen in from above the lintels. The chamber was constructed of dry-stone walling and this was visible along its N side. It terminated at E end and a passage exited at the W running in a NNE-SSW direction: this was blocked with earth and other debris just inside its entrance.
