Man-made underground passage in Kerries West — Report the wrong picture

Mistake and fantasy are twins in that west Kerry field. A hidden door may exist beside the stone circle, or the land may be dreaming through limestone. The field belongs to both possibilities at once.

'The RMP manual on the basis of a report of Man-made underground passages in the general area of the site in the Minute Books of the Kerry Field Club (Kerry County Library MS), suggests a Man-made underground passage is connected with this enclosure. However this is clearly not the enclosure described in the County kerry Field Club minutes, which was described in 1940 as "now cleared away only a small portion of the embankment is shown in a nearby fence". A possible souterain opening is visible outside the enclosure, in the flat land between this and another limestone reef. This opening is 121m from the exterior of the extant stone enclosure. Given the siting of the enclosure on bedrock and the distance involved it is almost certain that this possible Man-made underground passage is not directly associated with the enclosure but more likely with the crop mark enclosure [KE028-120----] below.
