What is recorded here

Under Cathairín an Ghrafaigh, men dug passages through solid earth before anyone thought to photograph them. By the 1940s those tunnels had been filled in, depriving Gortnagane of a hole it could have walked through. What remains is a flat field holding the shape of forgotten breath.

In a rath known as 'Cathairín an Ghrafaigh' (KE068-034----). In the 1940s it was recorded that Man-made underground passages in this rath were filled in (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry).
