Garranure holds a man-made underground passage in the northeast quadrant of its ringfort, yet no surface trace remains for modern eyes to follow. The absence does not diminish the claim; it sharpens the imagination. People may have built the passage to hide, escape or preserve something valuable when storms or enemies closed the usual roads. They may have covered the entrance afterward, believing the earth would remember what humans forgot.
