What is recorded here

Doonclaur, a circular multivallate rath on a gentle south-facing slope at the west end of the Anascaul valley, hid a man-made underground passage in its north-east sector. The passage is no longer visible, but it likely served the rath as a refuge, storage space or ritual path. People may have entered it during storms, kept valuable objects there or walked it in darkness as part of local practice. The earth above has changed, yet the idea of a hidden chamber inside an ancient fort still gives the place depth.

Doonclaur/Dún Cláir: Circular multivallate rath KE044-114---- is situated on a very gentle S facing slope at the W end of the Anascaul valley. The Man-made underground passage KE044-114001- which apparently lies in the NE sector of the interior (OSNB Ballynacourty, 17) is not now visible. The above description is derived from J.
