Man-made underground passage in Farrannacarriga

Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

Farrannacarriga and Lisraturraun were not empty when people stopped visiting them. They were occupied, inhabited and remembered.
Lisraturraun/An Lios: Circular univallate ringfort KE044-109---- marked on the OS maps no longer survives. It was enclosed by an earthen bank and contained a Man-made underground passage or Man-made underground passages (An Seabhac 1939, 182). The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 681. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 7 August 2013
