Man-made underground passage in Farrannacarriga

Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

Circular univallate enclosure KE044-103---- marked on the OS maps was levelled in 1982. A Man-made underground passage (KE044-103001-) was revealed at that time and is apparently still preserved though there is no surface indication of its location. It was comprised of 2 drystone chambers linked by a low passage. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 682. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 7 August 2013
