No one knows who dug the tunnel or when, but the old people swore it ran from the roadside ditch to Killeen Church, a hidden shortcut through solid ground. The hole sat inside the ditch on the west side of the road, waiting for boots, lantern light and perhaps a cart wheel, before people filled it with earth and forgot the shape of the entrance. Dromdowney Castle still stands nearby, yet the passage has vanished without a marker, leaving only a flat strip of roadside grass where a secret road once disappeared underground.

Roadside, c. 230m SE of Dromdowney Castle (CO024-15102-). According to Grove White (1905-25, vol. 2, 255), 'there is a hole inside the ditch, on west side of the road, which the old people say is the entrance to a tunnel leading to the Killeen Church' (CO024-10503-), c. 530m to NE.
