Under the central mound of Dromdoohig More in County Kerry, a hidden chamber may still hold its breath. A small hole poked through the inner bank acts as a vent, feeding air into darkness below the grass. People walked above this secret room for centuries, unknowing or unspoken, while the earth kept its own company beneath their feet.

In a rath (KE058-060----). In the 1940s 'a hole' was recorded in the centre of a rath in Dromdoohig (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry). An opening in the internal face of the inner bank of the rath at ESE may be an air vent for the Man-made underground passage. A roughly circular depression (diam. 1.5m; D 0.5m) at the centre of a hut site (KE058-060002-) in the NE quadrant of the rath may also represent part of this possible Man-made underground passage.
