What is recorded here
Lissabanshera is a fairy fort in County Kerry, Ireland. Its double banks and hidden ditch still cut across the pasture, marking a small world set apart from ordinary life. Cattle may have crowded through its broken gaps, yet the shape remains strong enough to suggest something older and less reasonable than farming.
In pasture, on a SE-facing slope. A raised circular area (c. 28m N-S) defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The inner earth and stone bank (int. H 0.7m; ext. H 1.15m) is evident all round. The intervening U-shaped fosse is covered with overgrowth and stones are dumped along it at irregular intervals. The outer bank (ext. H 1.35m) is best preserved SW-SE with only a slight trace visible SE-SW. The raised interior, which slopes down to the SE, is concave and uneven. There is a possible entrance in the inner and outer banks at SE and a cattle gap in the inner bank at ENE. There are also breaks in the outer bank at NW, NNW and WSW and cattle gaps at NE and ENE. Another rath (KE058-041----) lies c. 150m to the NNW.

Lissabanshera is a likely early-medieval ringfort, characterised by a circular raised area with two banks and a central fosse. Local tradition associates such sites with the faé, and they were often considered places of supernatural activity in Irish folklore.
