Man-made underground passage in Doire Mhór Thiar

While ploughing this area, c. 150m S of Tralee Bay at the base of Derrymore Island, an 'underground passage' was discovered many years ago (local information). The roof, formed of large stone flags, lay .4 to .5m below the surface and the passage was estimated to extend at least 12m W from the opening. Though it was subsequently covered over and no visible trace remains, it seems likely, from the description, that the structure is a Man-made underground passage.
