What is recorded here

Underground tunnels in Dirtane require human digging, tool marks or built joints. They are not caves where water carried rock into a chamber. This distinction removes a whole class of false memory and points the investigation at the people who changed the land.

Listoneen/Lios Tuainín (ringfort of little Tuan). Univallate rath KE014-063---- is situated in a large pastoral field that is gently sloping S. Today it has been much levelled and consists of a sub-circular raised area enclosed by a fosse. The interior is at much the same level as the surrounding land. In the NE sector is an oblong mound, 2.6m x 16m internally, which is perhaps the remains of the Man-made underground passage (KE014-063001-) marked as 'cave' on the 1842 OS map. Immediately E of this rath is a sub-rectangular raised area, 18m x 25m internally and 1.4m high; this enclosure is probably connected to the fort. The above description is derived from C.
