Under the levelled ringfort at Dawstown, a stone-lined passage waits in darkness. Local memory preserves the shape, but the ground above offers no entrance, no marker, no warning. The passage may still hold its own air and shadow, hidden beneath ordinary soil.
In levelled ringfort (8242). According to local information, there is an underground passage lined with stones. No visible surface trace. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
