What is recorded here
No surface remains visible of any Man-made underground passage in vicinity of possible motte or mound at Danganreagh (OF043-026001-). Classification of a Man-made underground passage is based on local information from residents of Danganreagh House who stated that an underground passage was discovered in the mound in the 19th century (Cunningham 1987, 129). Of doubtful antiquity.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
