Man-made underground passage in Curraghs — Report the wrong picture

Twenty yards west of the Curraghs fort, a man-made passage cut through the earth before humans closed it. Bowman recorded the tunnel in 1934, yet no visible trace remains above ground. The disappearance suggests deliberate forgetting, practical closure or simple erosion. Whatever hand sealed the entrance, the dark line still belongs to the field.

According to Bowman (1934, 385), 'a Man-made underground passage, now closed up, was about 20 yards west of the fort' (CO015-064---). No visible surface trace. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000).
