Under the Coolbane ringfort, hands cut chambers into living earth before machinery arrived to erase them. People walked those passages in 1934, perhaps listening for voices or simply avoiding rain, but a slurry pit swallowed the work in the 1970s or early 1980s. The hole still exists; the chamber is gone. What remains is a bruise in the ground where human patience once had room to breathe.

In ringfort (CO015-07501-). NMI files record that several chambers were seen in August 1934 (McCarthy 1977, 344); according to local information, earth-cut chambers were destroyed during construction of slurry pit in 1970s or early 1980s in interior of ringfort.
