Death and darkness keep the chamber inside the Coolanarney ringfort. Broker measured only a few steps before the passage closed, leaving the chamber hidden behind its own making.

In NW quadrant of ringfort (8187). Partially blocked entrance reveals stone-built chamber with stone lintels; inaccessible. Broker (1937, 46) recorded '2 or 3 steps' into chamber.
