Ahane Bridge

Road bridge (long axis E-W) over Owentaraglin River. Two wide segmental arches, well-dressed limestone voussoirs with chamfered edges, prominent keystone; limestone string course above arch. Bluntly pointed cutwater. North parapet wall heavily repaired; bridge recently widened with concrete extension on S side. Similar to nearby early-19th-century Duncannon Bridge (14833), which was designed by Richard Griffith. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
