Five-arch road bridge over River Blackwater, built c. 1800, having rubble sandstone walls with vertically set rubble limestone coping stones. Cut sandstone voussoirs to slightly pointed round arches. Ashlar sandstone V-cutwaters to west elevation having stepped V-cutwater to centre pier.

Charles's Bridge is a well designed structure, indicative of the skill of early nineteenth-century craftsmen and engineers. The round arches form a strong, rhythmical silhouette in the landscape. The ashlar sandstone cutwaters add decorative interest to the west elevation. The stepped cutwater to the centre bay is an unusual feature, which adds decorative interest to this functional structure. The dressed voussoirs set against rubble sandstone add textural interest to the bridge.
