Closed now, but easy to open, the passage ran three hundred yards beneath Claraghmore, waiting for hands bold enough to pull the dirt aside. It is no wonder such a place disappears when people stop walking it.

Bowman (1934, 317) recorded a Man-made underground passage 'at foot of mountain in Mr Pomeroy's land, c. 300 yards, S.W. of fort [CO039-05301-] in Claraghmore. This is now closed, but could easily be opened'. Exact location not known. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
