That is the largest chamber in the county, a man-made cave beneath a ringfort in Carrownagreggaun. It stretches five metres east to west and two metres wide, large enough for a cart or a hundred people. The entrance is blocked now, but the displaced stones still show where the roof was lifted and carried away. The cave predates the ringfort, meaning the fortress was built around an older hollow place.
