Killanin and Duignan (1962, 193) recorded a man-made underground passage inside the trivallate ringfort on Oldcourt Hill, though Jones (1910, 53) directed that same hidden route toward the river Awbeg. The fort interior has since become heavily overgrown, erasing the surface trace and leaving the passage suspended between memory and soil. Whatever chamber or tunnel remains beneath Carrigeen still belongs to the hill, waiting for someone patient enough to listen through the roots.

In ringfort (CO017-07701-). Jones (1910, 53) noted that 'a passage runs from this fort towards the river Awbeg', suggesting presence of possible Man-made underground passage. Killanin and Duignan (1962, 193) noted that 'on Oldcourt Hill is a trivallate ringfort with a Man-made underground passage'. No visible surface trace; interior of ringfort heavily overgrown.
