Under Breahig in County Kerry, men dragging soil in 1991 broke through into a narrow drystone tunnel running north to south. It measures barely three and a half metres, wide enough for one body to crawl, but collapse blocks the far end while the near end opens into solid rock where roofing slabs are missing. The maker likely cut a temporary entrance, used the passage for a purpose now forgotten, and left it buried. That much is known; the rest belongs to imagination.

Man-made underground passage discovered in 1991 during 'earth moving operations' and described by the Castleisland District Archaeological Survey as follows; 'The Man-made underground passage consists of a short drystone built passage, c.3.4m long and c. 80cm wide which runs in a N-S direction. At the S end is a solid rock face, and it is here that the roofing slabs have been removed. A small creepway is evident at the N end but collapse prevents exploration' (SMR File 23/12/1991).
