Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

Ballyshoneen, a man-made underground passage large enough to walk into, disappeared beneath a concrete lid. It lay within a possible ringfort, a dark chamber built by human hands that once swallowed light and perhaps curiosity. The concrete sealed what the earth had hidden, turning a living passage into a forgotten floor.
In possible ringfort (CO061-164001-). According to local information, Man-made underground passage here "large enough to walk into"; now covered with concrete. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
