You need a heavy stone to drag back the rock and a torch to see the passage. It runs at least two metres north-east from the north-west edge of the rath, narrow enough that breath and shadow belong to the person walking it. The nearby hut suggests this was a working place, not a forgotten hole, perhaps for storage, shelter or a task best done out of sight.

In a rath (KE058-099----). A partially exposed rock in the NW quadrant of the rath covers a small opening which reveals a stone-built cavity (min. L 2m) extending to the NNE. There is a possible hut site (KE058-099002-) immediately to the NE of the Man-made underground passage.
