Man-made underground passage in Ballymackean

Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

No visible entrance, no chamber, no measure. J. Lordan spoke it into the world in 2012, and that is all it has. The land keeps its distance. What is imagined is a narrow cut through solid ground, made by hands that understood pressure and dark. Not a cave, not a mistake. A choice. The absence of proof does not diminish the claim. It sharpens it. Somewhere under Ballymackean, human intention still waits to be recognised.
Local information records the existence of a Man-made underground passage in the ringfort (CO137-006----) (pers. comm. J. Lordan). Compiled by: Paul Walsh Date of upload: 17 January 2012

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
