Ballyknockane in County Cork hides a man-made underground passage inside a levelled moated site. Local tradition points to the north-west quadrant, yet no surface trace remains visible. The tunnel may have served as a escape route, storage space or ceremonial path, but its exact purpose has faded with the soil above it.
