Man-made underground passage in Ballyganner North

Situated in the W interior of a cashel (CL009-063001-), this undifferentiated Man-made underground passage (min. 6.2m E-W) is visible as a linear mound of rubble (12.5m E-W; 4-5m N-S; H. c. 0.5m) under which the tops of drystone walls are traceable. The entrance (Wth 0.7m) seems to be at the N side of the W end. The passage is partly filled with loose stones and cracked lintels. After an initial straight section of passage (L 2.2m; Wth 1m) extending to E, a large upright slab jutting from N forces the passage to turn S (L 0.9m; Wth 0.9m) and then E. From here the passage continues E (L c. 5m) and is wide (1.6m) at first, but gradually narrows (1.2m).
