Man-made underground passage in Ballycarnahan

This Man-made underground passage, not marked on the OS maps, is located directly S of Caherdaniel village on the E side of the Coomnahorna river. It was infilled several decades ago and is described locally as a stone-built passage which runs NE-SW. O’Connell recorded that it featured several chambers which were ‘large enough to stand up in’ (KAS). A portion of a large slab, possibly a roofing lintel, is all that is now apparent at the location.
