Altbeagh rath in County Cavan still holds a collapsed underground passage, visible only as a Y-shaped depression inside the northern bank. People dug through solid earth there, perhaps to hide, enter secretly or reach water below the mound. The ceiling fell long before written memory, but the shape remains sharp enough to suggest intention.
