West Cork keeps a buried chamber beside its ringfort, marked only by two hollows at the entrance. People dug through solid earth because the region demanded hidden space, perhaps for storage, flight or ceremony. The soil forgot the chamber while the hollows remained, waiting for someone curious enough to follow them downward.

Two hollows at entrance to ringfort (CO119-003001-) indicate position of Man-made underground passage. Myler (1998, 107) noted that 'on the north external bank there is an entrance to a Man-made underground passage'.
